Superior Watershed Partnership Receives Large EPA Grant!

On November 16 the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced it's CARE grant recipients. The Superior Watershed Partnership received $200,000 for implementation of its Earth Keepers program.

Community Action for a Renewed Environment (CARE) is a community-based, community-driven program that builds partnerships to help communities understand and reduce toxic risks from numerous sources. Award recipients will address a wide variety of environmental health issues in both rural and urban areas.

The SWP will work with the Earth Keepers program to do pollution prevention projects like it's Earth Day 2006 event that collected over 320 tons of electronic waste.

This grant award was recognized by U.S. House of Representative member Bart Stupak.

"Superior Watershed Partnership is doing important work in the areas of dam removals, habitat restoration, native plant re-introduction and shoreline stabilization," Stupak said. "This funding will allow the Superior Watershed Partnership to implement a number of innovative pollution prevention programs addressing pharmaceutical waste, electronic waste, household hazardous waste, mercury, and more".
